Angstep — every client's network. One pane of glass.
Angstep's Netmon brings monitoring, remote access, vulnerability scanning and client-ready reporting into a single multi-tenant platform - so your techs stop tab-hopping and your clients finally understand what they're paying for.
Angstep Netmon is a multi-tenant network monitoring and security platform built specifically for managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs). It combines automatic device discovery, continuous uptime and latency monitoring, CVE-based vulnerability scanning, rogue-device detection, integrated remote access, and one-click client-ready PDF security reports into a single agent and dashboard — instead of a separate monitoring tool, vulnerability scanner, RMM remote-access client and reporting spreadsheet, an MSP installs one lightweight agent per client site and manages every network from one multi-tenant dashboard. Netmon is built and maintained by Angstep Ltd, a UK company founded by Stephen Richards after 18 years running his own MSP and MSSP. Pricing starts on a free plan for up to 20 devices on one site, with paid Pro and MSP tiers adding remote access, unlimited sites and white-label branding for larger operations.
Who are Angstep
Founder/Developer Stephen Richards created Angstep out of frustration! Having been in the IT Business since 1989, Stephen had noticed a number of great software solutions, but very few provided ALL of the essentials at a fair price. So the very first solution he created was Netmon.
Stephen founded Computer Technical Solutions, an MSP that later became an MSSP, in 2006, and ran it until officially retiring in 2025 — nearly two decades of first-hand experience in exactly the gap Netmon fixes for smaller IT Support, MSPs and MSSPs. Netmon monitors networks at an affordable price, providing everything you need to monitor your clients' networks in the simplest way possible at a really affordable price.
Based on replacing a typical five-tool MSP stack — a network monitor, a separate vulnerability scanner, a remote-access client, manual reporting and a ticketing system — with a single Netmon agent and dashboard.
You didn't get into this business to babysit five dashboards
After 18 years as an MSP and MSSP, I decided to provide a better solution. Most MSPs run a monitoring tool, a scanner, a remote-access client and a pile of spreadsheets — none of which talk to each other. The gaps between them are where incidents hide and where client trust quietly erodes.
See everything
Auto-discovery maps every device on the client LAN — workstations, servers, printers, cameras and IoT — with live availability, latency and packet-loss tracking.
Catch what matters
Built-in vulnerability scanning cross-checks devices against the national CVE database and the catalogue of actively exploited threats so you can drill down to the real problem — not just a port list.
Prove your value
Ever been asked "What are we paying you for?" Generate a plain-English security report your client actually understands — on demand, in one click. Turn invisible work into visible value.
A complete operations and security platform
Everything an MSP needs to monitor, secure and report on client networks — designed to work together from day one.
You can even run common scripts on Windows and Linux devices right from the main dashboard.
Tickets that open themselves, before the client notices
Most MSPs treat a support ticket like a fire extinguisher — something you reach for once the smoke's already filling the room.
Netmon flips that by reacting like a smoke detector: the moment a device's real-world performance goes sideways — not just offline, but degraded, flapping around or quietly struggling — a ticket opens itself, often before the customer has any idea something's wrong.
Network discovery & monitoring
Continuous device discovery, live up/down status, latency and packet-loss history, and instant alerts the moment something stops responding.
Integrated remote access
Jump straight onto any managed device from the dashboard. No separate licence, no extra client to install and maintain.
Rogue-device detection
Angstep learns each network's baseline, then flags any unfamiliar or "Rogue" device the moment it appears - with a one-click "trust" workflow for the ones you expect.
Vulnerability & exposure scanning
Live CVE and known-exploit matching, plus risky-service detection that flags exposed remote desktop, file sharing and databases in plain language.
Risk acknowledgement workflow
Accept and document a known risk with a required note. Your reasoning is recorded against the device — a clean audit trail for every decision.
Client-ready PDF reports
One click turns raw scan data into a branded, plain-English security report — the document that justifies your retainer at every review.
The obvious choice when you line them up
Legacy RMM tools bolt on security as an afterthought. Standalone scanners do not monitor. Basic network monitors cannot report. Angstep does all three — and hands you the client report at the end.
Built by someone who ran the stack it replaces
Netmon wasn't designed from a feature-request backlog. Stephen Richards ran Computer Technical Solutions, his own MSP and later MSSP, from 2006 until retiring in 2025 — nearly two decades of being the person on call when a fragmented tool stack let an incident slip through the gaps. Netmon's architecture is a direct response to that experience: monitoring and security sharing one data model instead of two systems a technician has to cross-reference by hand.
Angstep Netmon is independently listed on SourceForge, Slashdot and TopBusinessSoftware's software directories, and on ApprovedBusiness and SaaSBrowser's company directories — the badges below link directly to each listing.

What is Angstep Netmon and what does it do for MSPs?
Angstep Netmon is a multi-tenant network monitoring and security platform built for managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs). It combines device discovery, uptime and latency monitoring, CVE-based vulnerability scanning, rogue-device detection, integrated remote access and one-click client-ready PDF security reports into a single agent and dashboard, so an MSP can manage every client network from one place instead of several disconnected tools.
How does Angstep replace multiple MSP tools in one platform?
Rather than running a separate network monitor, vulnerability scanner, remote-access client and reporting spreadsheet, Angstep runs all of it through one lightweight agent per client site. Monitoring, vulnerability data, remote access and reporting share the same underlying device records, and automatic ticketing reacts to performance degradation without a technician having to notice it first.
What vulnerability scanning does Angstep provide?
Netmon checks every discovered device against the National Vulnerability Database using its vendor, model and firmware, and highlights anything listed in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogue. It also flags risky exposed services such as Telnet, RDP, VNC, SMB and unauthenticated databases, with a plain-English explanation of why each one matters.
How does Angstep compare to tools like NinjaRMM or PRTG for vulnerability scanning?
NinjaRMM and PRTG are widely used, general-purpose monitoring platforms that each offer some security-related add-ons. Netmon is built from day one around one continuous data model that combines monitoring and vulnerability scanning for the same device, rather than running security as a separate module bolted onto a monitoring core. For an exact feature-by-feature comparison against your current platform, contact Angstep and we'll walk through it against your own stack.
How does Angstep's rogue-device detection work?
When an agent first runs, Netmon treats every device it finds as legitimate and learns that as the network's baseline. Once the baseline locks, any new device that appears is flagged as rogue and raises a critical alert. A one-click "Trust Device" action clears the alert for anything expected, such as a new laptop or a replacement printer.
What does a client-ready security report from Angstep include?
One click turns raw monitoring and vulnerability scan data into a branded, plain-English PDF report, combining uptime history and security findings into a single document an MSP can hand to a client to show exactly what their retainer is covering.
How is Angstep priced compared to legacy RMM tools?
Angstep offers a free plan covering up to 20 devices on one site with no card required. The Pro plan is £29 per site per month (or £290 per site per year) and adds remote access, Wake-on-LAN, white-label branding and up to five sites. The MSP plan is £79 per month (or £790 per year) with unlimited devices, sites and client organisations. All plans include monitoring, vulnerability scanning, rogue-device detection and PDF reporting, rather than charging separately per tool.
Is Angstep suitable for small MSPs and MSSPs?
Yes. The free tier is built for very small operations monitoring a single site, and the paid tiers scale up to unlimited sites and client organisations for larger MSPs and MSSPs. Netmon was created by Stephen Richards after 18 years running his own MSP and MSSP, specifically to cover gaps he found in tools available to smaller IT support businesses.
